With the Lagos local government elections scheduled for July 12, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intensify campaign efforts at the grassroots level, urging a united front to secure sweeping victories across the state.
Speaking at the Lagos West 2 Senatorial District Mega Rally held in Ijanikin, the governor represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat emphasized the need for party loyalists to mobilize voters, stressing that voter turnout would be key to defeating rival candidates.
He warned party members against complacency and stressed that the APC must not let its leaders down. “There’s no room for embarrassment. We must justify the confidence reposed in us,” he said.
Citing ongoing and completed infrastructure and social development projects across Lagos, Sanwo-Olu encouraged party faithful to take pride in the APC’s performance and remain steadfast. “Our achievements are evident; we are progressives, and our record speaks for itself,” he added.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd waving party banners, the governor’s representative reminded attendees that real support lies in votes, not placards. “The ultimate show of loyalty is to come out on election day with your Permanent Voter Cards and back our candidates at the polls,” he said.
Meanwhile, the state APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, called on Lagosians to translate their appreciation for the administration’s efforts into electoral support. He pointed to the positive impact of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu in the Lagos West Senatorial District and urged voters to reciprocate with massive support.
“We’re asking for one thing only — your votes. This is the moment to stand as one and reaffirm our commitment to the party’s vision,” he declared.
Ojelabi specifically appealed to the youth, urging them to recognize the progress the district has made under APC leadership and to rally others to the cause. He expressed confidence in the party’s candidates and encouraged community leaders, religious groups, market traders, and all residents to actively campaign and vote.
“Let the world see that Lagos West 2 remains firmly in support of the APC,” he concluded.
