Tension has reportedly emerged within the family of late former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain and ex-minister, Demola Seriki, following allegations by his last wife that she and her children were denied access to his graveside.

Seriki, a prominent Lagos politician, died on December 15, 2022, in Madrid, Spain, at the age of 63. He was survived by three wives and several children.

Marking the third anniversary of his death on Sunday, his last wife, Princess Sholape, visited his burial site alongside her children to pray for the repose of his soul. However, she claimed that they were prevented from gaining access to the vault where the late diplomat was laid to rest.

In a video shared online, Sholape alleged that a family member identified as Biola had seized the keys to the vault and instructed that visits to the graveside could only take place with her approval. She expressed disappointment over the development, describing it as painful and unnecessary.

“The keys to the vault have been seized and we were refused access,” she said in the video. “Today, we speak up and move on. It doesn’t stop us. We have done our prayers.”

The video showed Sholape and her two children standing by the graveside, praying despite the restriction. As of the time of this report, no official response has been issued by other members of the Seriki family regarding the allegation.
