The remains of veteran Nollywood actress Ajara Lasisi, popularly known as Aunty Ajara, were laid to rest on Thursday, bringing an emotional close to a life widely celebrated in Nigeria’s indigenous film industry.

The burial, conducted in line with Islamic rites, was attended by family members, close associates, and a handful of colleagues from the movie industry. Images and videos from the ceremony, which later circulated on social media, showed mourners offering prayers as she was committed to the earth.

Aunty Ajara’s death followed a prolonged battle with liver disease, a struggle that had drawn public attention in the weeks before her passing. Her management team had earlier confirmed her death, describing it as the end of a long and courageous fight with illness.

Prior to her demise, colleagues and well-wishers had appealed to the public for financial assistance to support her medical care, an appeal that received significant attention from Nigerians both within the country and in the diaspora. After her death, her management announced that further donations were no longer needed and advised the public to discontinue contributions to the previously circulated account details.

Since the announcement of her passing, tributes have continued to pour in across social media platforms, with fans and fellow actors remembering her as a humble, resilient, and dedicated actress who made notable contributions to indigenous Nollywood productions.

Her burial marks a solemn farewell to an actress many say lived a simple life and remained committed to her craft, leaving behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of colleagues and admirers.
