A 35-year-old man has allegedly set his parents’ house on fire following a disagreement with his father over money.

The incident was disclosed on Sunday, February 8, 2026, by a Facebook user, Eric Mboya, who shared details of the alleged altercation. According to the account, the man had requested KSh5,000 from his father to socialise with friends, a request that was declined.

Angered by the refusal, the man reportedly returned with petrol and set the family house ablaze. It was further alleged that he lived in the same house that was destroyed by the fire.

The incident has drawn widespread attention on social media, with many expressing concern over rising cases of domestic disputes escalating into violent acts.

The development comes barely two weeks after a similar case was reported in Thunguma village, Nyeri County, where a 40-year-old man allegedly burned down his parents’ home after his mother refused to give him KSh100.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the latest incident, while investigations are expected to determine the full circumstances surrounding the alleged arson.
