Nigeria’s aviation regulator is pushing for legal action against Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known as K1 De Ultimate, following a heated incident that disrupted operations at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has petitioned Attorney-General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi and Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, calling for a full criminal investigation and prosecution under the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023 and other relevant laws.
According to NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu, the drama unfolded on August 5 aboard a ValueJet flight. Ayinde allegedly attempted to block an aircraft already in motion, a move considered a serious safety violation in aviation.
Multiple eyewitnesses described the Fuji star’s conduct as aggressive, entitled, and dangerous. One passenger revealed that he poured water on the female pilot and threatened her, boasting that he knows the president and people in the presidency.
Sources say the confrontation began when Ayinde was spotted drinking from his personal flask during the flight. The dispute quickly escalated, drawing the attention of both passengers and crew.
The NCAA’s investigation revealed that two ValueJet pilots involved in the incident have been suspended for failing to follow standard safety procedures during takeoff.
On Thursday, Achimugu, who also serves as the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, announced that Ayinde has been blacklisted for six months from Nigerian airports over the incident.
The regulator says incidents like this undermine aviation safety protocols and set a dangerous precedent if left unchecked. An NCAA official told reporters that this is not just about a celebrity misbehaving but about protecting the lives of passengers and maintaining order in the skies.
The matter now rests with Nigeria’s top law enforcement and legal authorities, who will determine whether Ayinde will face charges in court. The Fuji star, who commands a massive fan base both in Nigeria and abroad, is yet to publicly comment on the allegations.
