The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which was conducted nationwide between May 12 and May 23.
In a statement issued Wednesday in Abuja, NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Sani Azeez, confirmed that 179,201 candidates registered for the examination, which covered 12 subjects.
The results were approved following the conclusion of the BECE Awards Committee Meeting held at NECO Headquarters in Minna. The committee, made up of education officials and secondary school principals, reviewed the exam conduct and result collation processes before granting approval.
Chairperson of the committee, Dr. (Mrs) Folake Olatunji David, who also serves as Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, commended the council for maintaining a transparent and efficient process.
“The committee is satisfied with the procedures that led to the timely release of the 2025 BECE results,” she said during the meeting.
NECO also announced that a resit for Mathematics and English Studies has been scheduled for July 23 and 24, 2025. The resit is intended for candidates who did not meet the required benchmarks in those core subjects.
Meanwhile, over 64,000 students have reportedly sat for NECO’s 2025 entrance examination into Federal Unity Colleges across the country.
