Nigerian lawmaker and businessman Senator Ned Nwoko has stirred widespread conversation after declaring that having only one wife is like standing on one leg, a statement that has reignited the public debate around polygamy and marriage in Nigeria.

Nwoko, who is currently facing reports of a marital crisis with his actress wife, Regina Daniels, made the remark during an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels Television on Sunday night.

Speaking candidly about his lifestyle, the senator defended his decision to marry multiple women, claiming it brings stability and balance to his home.

“Try standing on one leg, and you’ll see how hard it is,” he explained. “But when you stand on two, three, or four, it becomes easier and more stable. That’s how I view marriage. I actually feel sorry for men who have only one wife. I have no regrets, and I would do it all over again.”

His comments come amid growing speculation that his marriage to Regina Daniels, his fourth wife, may be on the verge of collapse. The pair have been trending on social media following a viral video in which Regina accused the senator of domestic violence.

Nwoko, however, refuted the allegations, claiming instead that Regina had been involved in substance abuse fueling the controversy.

Adding to the tension, Regina on Sunday evening shared a photo of herself standing on the balcony of a new home, sparking rumours that she had moved out of their marital residence. The post was captioned:

“I needed a roof over my head.”

Social media users quickly speculated that the actress may have relocated to Lagos State, possibly confirming earlier divorce rumours.

Neither Regina nor Nwoko has officially addressed the separation claims, but the situation has dominated online discussions, with many Nigerians debating his stance on polygamy, marital values, and gender roles.

The senator’s statement comparing monogamy to “standing on one leg” continues to trend across platforms, drawing mixed reactions — some defending his cultural beliefs, while others criticize it as outdated and insensitive.
