Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Nigerian international Ola Aina has signed a new three-year contract, extending his stay at the Premier League club until the summer of 2028.
The 28-year-old defender, who joined Forest in July 2023 on a free transfer from Torino, played a pivotal role in the club’s survival last season and has now been rewarded with a long-term deal. Forest had initially triggered a one-year extension clause in May 2024, shortly after securing their Premier League status, but have since opted to secure Aina’s services on a more permanent basis.
Aina featured prominently throughout the 2024–25 campaign under head coach Nuno Espírito Santo, making 37 appearances across all competitions—mostly on the right flank. His defensive stability and tactical versatility contributed significantly to Forest’s seventh-place league finish and a memorable run to the FA Cup semi-finals.
Since arriving at the City Ground, Aina has accumulated 59 appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists. His commitment to Forest comes alongside recent contract renewals for key players Neco Williams and Murillo, as well as a contract extension for manager Nuno Espírito Santo, who also signed on until 2028.
A product of Chelsea’s academy, Aina made six senior appearances for the London club before loan spells at Hull City and Torino. He completed a permanent move to Torino in 2019 and featured in 113 matches for the Serie A side, including a loan spell at Fulham during the 2020–21 season.
Born in London, Aina represented England at youth level but opted to play for Nigeria at senior level in 2017. He has since earned 40 caps for the Super Eagles.
Forest will hope Aina’s experience and consistency can help them build on the momentum of last season as they look ahead to the 2025–26 campaign.
