Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta is grieving the loss of a beloved child, but contrary to swirling reports, the tragedy did not involve his biological son.

Over the weekend, Chatta’s emotional Instagram post sparked confusion and widespread speculation. He had written:

“Inna liLlahi wa inna ileyhi rajiun. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on Dear Son. Champ.”

The heartfelt tribute led many to believe the actor had lost his own son. Within hours, several entertainment platforms ran with the story, further fueling the misunderstanding.

But on Sunday, actress Opeyemi Aiyeola stepped in to clarify the situation. Writing on her verified Instagram account, @opeyemi_aiyeola1, she explained that the deceased was not Chatta’s biological son but rather his godson — a child he cherished and treated like his own.

“Ibrahim Chatta didn’t lose his biological son but a godson who was also like a son to him. May his pure soul rest peacefully. It has been an extremely emotional journey. God have mercy,” Aiyeola wrote.

She also offered prayers for comfort and strength for Chatta and the grieving family, calling on the public to show empathy during this period of mourning.

The clarification has eased initial fears among fans but has also highlighted the depth of Chatta’s bond with his godson. Tributes continue to pour in as colleagues and well-wishers rally around the actor in his time of grief.
