The Osun State Police Command has arrested three men in connection with the alleged unlawful possession of human parts in Ile-Ogbo, a community near Iwo in Osun State.

The suspects were identified as Taiwo Ogunbode, 47; Thomas Ogo, 52; and Lateef Afeez, 30. Their arrest followed what police described as credible intelligence received on December 3, 2025.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said operatives from the Iwo Area Command acted swiftly on the information and apprehended the suspects inside a dilapidated building in the town.

According to the police, items recovered during the operation included plastic containers containing suspected human skin, dried bones believed to be human, and a white gown allegedly used in the burial of a corpse. Other exhibits listed were teeth suspected to be human, horns wrapped in red cloth, nylon bags containing suspected human hair, and a small knife.

The police also said a substance suspected to be Indian hemp and the sum of N127,000 in cash were recovered from the suspects.

Preliminary investigations, the statement added, revealed that the suspects allegedly confessed to exhuming human remains from a grave at a Muslim cemetery in the Gaa-Fulani area of Ile-Ogbo. The recovered parts were reportedly intended for money-making rituals.

The command further disclosed that the suspects are believed to be part of a syndicate involved in exhuming corpses from cemeteries for criminal purposes.

DSP Ojelabi said investigations are ongoing, adding that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the inquiry.
