The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that Senior Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, has surrendered himself to the police following allegations of multiple rape and other related offences.
The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, disclosed this on Wednesday, noting that the cleric reported to the authorities on Tuesday after failing to honour an earlier invitation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti.
According to the police, Okafor was invited on Sunday to respond to the allegations but did not appear on Monday as earlier communicated through his lawyer. Jimoh said the police subsequently directed his arrest before he eventually turned himself in.
“When he was invited, he got to us through his lawyer that he would appear on Monday. We waited for him, but he did not show up. I then directed that he should be arrested. Subsequently, he came in on Tuesday,” the police commissioner said during an interview on TVC.
Jimoh further confirmed that the case has been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further investigation, citing the gravity and sensitivity of the allegations.
The controversy surrounding the cleric emerged in mid-December 2025 after several allegations surfaced on social media. Among the accusers is Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who alleged that she had a long-term sexual relationship with the pastor dating back to 2017. She claimed the relationship involved broken promises of marriage, the sharing of explicit content, and that it contributed to the breakdown of her previous marriage.
Amid the public outcry, Okafor reportedly addressed his congregation on December 28, 2025, where he apologised for past actions and knelt at the pulpit in a plea for forgiveness.
The Lagos State Police Command said investigations are ongoing at SCID, Panti, and Zone 2, while assuring the public that adequate security arrangements have been put in place for the alleged victims.
