The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) has condemned the violent intrusion at the party’s National Secretariat by expelled members, reaffirming its full support for the newly elected leadership.

In a statement Wednesday, BoT Chairman Adolphus Wabara described the incident as an attempt to disrupt the Ibadan National Convention held on November 15-16, 2025, and praised the courage of Governors, National Working Committee (NWC) members, party leaders, and supporters who resisted the intruders.

The Board highlighted that the convention was conducted in strict compliance with the PDP Constitution, party guidelines, the Electoral Act, and all relevant regulations, representing the collective decision of delegates and stakeholders nationwide.

Wabara denounced the actions and statements of expelled members who allegedly mobilized thugs to block access for the elected NWC, led by National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, and accompanied by Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed and Oyo State Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde.

Reports indicated that tear gas was fired at governors and party leaders, while the intruders carried out violent acts at the Secretariat. The BoT described the attack as a direct challenge to internal democracy and an effort to undermine the legitimacy of the Ibadan convention.

Calling for accountability, the BoT urged the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the attack and ensure that those responsible face consequences. The statement concluded by stressing that democracy thrives only when institutions remain impartial, professional, and free from partisan influence.
