The Lagos State Police Command has shut down a large-scale fake pharmaceutical operation discovered on the top floor of a multi-storey building in the Ojo area of the state.

The illegal facility was uncovered on Wednesday during an enforcement operation led by the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh. Officers recovered substantial quantities of counterfeit medicines, including fake malaria drugs, syringes and other unregistered medical products.

Briefing reporters at the scene, CP Jimoh said investigators had intensified efforts to track down the alleged sponsor of the operation, identified only as “One Developer.” He ordered the immediate sealing of the premises, warning residents about the severe health risks posed by counterfeit drugs.

“These items are dangerous and capable of harming thousands of unsuspecting Nigerians,” he said, revealing that the syndicate used advanced equipment to manufacture fake medicines and alter expiry dates on expired products before pushing them back into circulation.

Jimoh added that the police will work closely with NAFDAC and other regulatory agencies to ensure full prosecution of all individuals linked to the illegal enterprise.

One security guard found at the facility was arrested during the raid and is currently assisting investigators.
