A routine evening turned into a nightmare for popular TikTok creator Kesari Okala after he was brutally attacked by suspected cult members in the Ikola area of Lagos State. The incident happened on Sunday but gained public attention when a disturbing video of the aftermath surfaced online midweek.
In the footage, Kesari is seen lying on the ground in visible agony, his clothes soaked in blood. Speaking to a man believed to be a relative, who was filming the scene, the social media influencer recalled waiting for a motorcycle at a bus stop when the assailants struck. He alleged that the group had just left a cult meeting nearby before targeting him without warning. “See what they did to me… were they trying to kill me? I’m tired of all this,” he said in the clip, his voice shaking with pain and frustration.
Witnesses say Kesari suffered a deep head wound after being stabbed with an unidentified object. Blood was visible on different parts of his body, and locals quickly gathered to help before he was taken for medical attention.
The assault came less than 24 hours after another violent incident in the same community, where a man was reportedly hacked to death in what residents described as a clash between rival cult groups. In a gruesome detail, the victim’s hand was severed and taken away by the attackers. Locals say the slain man was not from the area, and his identity remains unknown.
Cult-related violence has been a recurring menace in Lagos. In July, three people — identified only as Agbara, Butcher, and an unnamed plumber — were killed in separate but related attacks in the Ebute Meta area. According to residents, Agbara was murdered on Lagos Street, Butcher was killed in Makoko, and the plumber was dragged to Abeokuta Street, where he was stabbed to death — all on the same day.
The recent attack on Kesari has stirred fear and outrage among residents and social media users alike. Many are calling for urgent action from security agencies to stem the growing wave of cult violence that has left communities unsettled and high-profile personalities vulnerable.
