Nigerian singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has died at the age of 22, sending shockwaves through the country’s music community.

News of his passing became public on Sunday, January 18, 2026, after reports circulated online indicating that the fast-rising artiste was no longer alive. As of press time, neither the family nor close associates have released an official statement detailing the cause of death.

It was gathered that the late singer’s remains are currently being moved to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where burial arrangements are expected to take place.

Destiny Boy first captured national attention in 2019 when his Fuji-style rendition of Davido’s hit track “If” gained massive traction on social media. The viral moment launched him into the spotlight and established him as one of the young artistes redefining the blend of traditional Fuji elements with modern Afrobeats.
