Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has reportedly evaded arrest after being accused of assaulting actress and content creator Ashabi Simple, one of his baby mamas.

The alleged incident occurred on Thursday, January 1, 2026, when Ashabi visited the singer’s bar in Ogun State. Videos from the scene later surfaced online, showing a heated confrontation between the pair.

In the footage, Ashabi is seen holding Portable’s clothing and demanding that he recognise her as his wife rather than referring to her as a baby mama. The situation quickly escalated after the singer rejected her demand, insisting that he has only one wife, Bewaji, and describing the other women he has children with as baby mamas.

Witnesses said the exchange degenerated into a physical altercation, prompting Ashabi and her siblings to report the matter to the police, alleging assault and threats.

In a video shared on Instagram, Ashabi accused Portable of physically attacking her, seizing their phones and threatening her and her siblings with an axe. She also claimed that when police operatives went to arrest the singer, they met his pregnant wife at home, while Portable allegedly fled the area.

“I celebrated the new year peacefully with my family. He asked me to bring food to his bar. When I got there, we had a minor disagreement, and he slapped and beat me,” she alleged.

The police have yet to issue an official statement on the matter, but sources say efforts are ongoing to locate the singer.

The incident has continued to generate mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians condemning the alleged violence, while others criticised Ashabi over her relationship with the singer.

Portable, known for his frequent public controversies, has not publicly responded to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
