Professor Rahmon Tella has formally assumed his role as the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Oyo State following a swearing-in ceremony led by INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN.

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Amupitan described the oath-taking as a “solemn occasion” and a reminder of the responsibilities entrusted to the REC. He emphasized the critical role of the position in advancing Nigeria’s democratic system and ensuring credible elections across the state.

The INEC Chairman underlined the importance of professionalism and integrity, stating that the conduct of electoral officers must reflect the highest ethical standards. “The integrity of our elections is not negotiable. Every action you take must uphold professionalism and honesty. Any compromise on our values or procedures shall not be tolerated,” he said.

Professor Tella’s appointment is expected to reinforce INEC’s commitment to transparency and accountability in Oyo State, as the commission continues efforts to strengthen democratic processes and public confidence in electoral outcomes.
