Nigerian TikTok content creator Mirabel has retracted an earlier allegation in which she claimed she was sexually assaulted at her residence in Ogun State.
The influencer, known on the platform as @mirab351, had posted a viral video alleging that an unidentified man attacked her and inflicted injuries. The claims sparked widespread reactions on social media and prompted the Nigeria Police to launch an investigation.
At the time, the Ogun State Police Command confirmed it was probing the matter. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that the command had commenced inquiries to ascertain the facts surrounding the allegation.
However, in a recent development, Mirabel admitted that her earlier claims were not true. Speaking during an interaction with social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), she said she had been under the influence of drugs and suggested that she may have been hallucinating.
The clarification comes amid growing public debate over the initial allegation, which had drawn both sympathy and scepticism online.
As of the time of filing this report, the police have not issued a fresh statement following Mirabel’s latest remarks.
