Global reggae icon and actor Jimmy Cliff, born James Chambers, has passed away, his family announced on Sunday. The musician, celebrated for his influential career in music and film, died following a seizure that was complicated by pneumonia.

The news was shared on Cliff’s official Facebook page by his wife, who described the loss as “profound” and expressed gratitude to family, friends, and colleagues who supported him throughout his career.

“To all his fans worldwide, your support was his strength,” she wrote. “He truly appreciated every fan who shared his journey and love for his music.”

She also thanked the medical team, led by Dr. Couceyro, for their dedication and care during his illness. The family requested privacy during this difficult time and stated that further updates regarding funeral arrangements and tributes would be shared later.
