Nigerian singer and songwriter Seyi Shay has finally spoken about her four-year break from the spotlight, revealing that her time in isolation was a deliberate decision to focus on self-reflection, healing, and spiritual growth.

In a heartfelt conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the Right Now crooner explained that stepping away from fame allowed her to rediscover her purpose and rebuild her mindset. She described those years as a deeply transformative period that changed the way she viewed herself, life, and even men.

“I went through a major mental and spiritual shift,” Seyi Shay shared. “It started before I became a mother. Isolation helped me reflect and gain clarity about who I truly am. People may see isolation as negative, but for me, it was a blessing. I gained hindsight, insight, and foresight — gifts that have shaped my growth. Aside from my daughter, that wisdom is the best thing God has given me.”

The award-winning singer also revealed that her spiritual life has evolved significantly, saying she now operates from a higher level of self-awareness and peace. “My spirituality has completely transformed. I’m more grounded and confident, and I feel comfortable around men now. I love men — it really is a man’s world,” she said with a laugh.

Addressing questions about her personal life, Seyi Shay spoke openly about her relationship with the father of her daughter. Although they are not married, she emphasized that their co-parenting relationship is strong and based on mutual respect. “It’s just a technical situation,” she said. “He’s amazing, supportive, and very involved. He’s Nigerian, works in the music industry on the corporate side, and is currently based in the UK. We’re raising our daughter together and are great friends.”

The singer’s candid revelations have reignited admiration from fans who have long wondered about her absence from the music scene. Her story comes shortly after reports that fellow artist Tiwa Savage revisited her past clash with Seyi Shay, offering new context to their viral salon confrontation from years ago.

With her renewed sense of clarity and purpose, Seyi Shay’s return marks a new phase of authenticity and self-awareness. Her openness about growth, motherhood, and spirituality reflects the maturity of an artist who has embraced her evolution — not just as a musician, but as a woman finding peace in her own rhythm.
