Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured that the federal government will honour the late Brigadier General Musa Uba and extend support to his family following his killing by terrorists in Borno State.

General Uba was among several military personnel ambushed and murdered recently by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP). The attack has further highlighted the persistent security challenges confronting troops in the North-East.

Speaking on Wednesday during a visit to Birnin Kebbi—where schoolgirls were abducted in a separate incident—Shettima said the fallen officers made a sacrifice that the nation must never forget.

He noted that the death of any soldier in defence of the country strikes “at the heart of the nation’s collective spirit,” adding that the government remains committed to recognising and supporting those who pay the ultimate price for Nigeria.

The Vice President also condemned the abduction of the Kebbi schoolgirls, describing it as a grievous affront to the conscience of the nation. He expressed concern over the increasing spate of terrorist attacks nationwide, which in recent days have resulted in multiple kidnappings and killings.

Shettima reiterated the government’s resolve to stand with the families of fallen heroes and to intensify efforts toward restoring security across the country.
