Nigerian filmmaker Soji Ogunnaike is making waves in Nollywood with the premiere of his latest action-thriller, Dead Tide, a gripping tale that blends crime, social media intrigue, and personal redemption. The star-studded event took place at Rushing Tap Studios in Lagos, drawing a vibrant mix of actors, filmmakers, influencers, and cinema enthusiasts.

Dead Tide follows the story of Itoro, a former Niger Delta militant striving for a peaceful life after the tragic loss of his sister. However, his world is turned upside down when Sade, an energetic social media influencer, accidentally captures a chilling murder involving the President’s son. As Sade goes into hiding, Itoro is pulled back into a world of violence he had tried so hard to escape.

Ogunnaike, addressing guests at the premiere, revealed his vision behind the film. “Audiences are evolving. They want more than recycled drama plots. With Dead Tide, we took a creative risk to deliver a visually bold story that challenges the norm. This film is a statement of where we want Nigerian cinema to go, and Rushing Tap Studios is ready to lead that movement,” he said.

Industry veteran Moses Babatope, CEO of The Nile Media Entertainment Group, echoed Ogunnaike’s sentiment, expressing confidence in the film’s appeal. “The Nigerian audience is craving authentic, high-energy storytelling. Dead Tide captures that perfectly with a narrative that’s not only thrilling but also deeply relatable. We’re proud to bring this film to cinemas nationwide,” Babatope noted.

The premiere has already sparked conversations about the future of Nollywood’s action genre, with many praising Dead Tide for its bold narrative, cinematic quality, and timely relevance in a social media-driven society.

As Ogunnaike’s latest project hits the big screen, it’s clear that Dead Tide isn’t just another film release—it’s a bold push towards redefining the boundaries of Nigerian action cinema.
