A security operation in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State has sparked unrest following the killing of Alhaji Ibrahim Nagode, the father of a wanted bandit kingpin.

Nagode, 60, lived in Na’alma village and was the father of Haruna Ibrahim, popularly known as Fada. Multiple sources told Zagazola Makama that the shooting occurred while Fada was returning to the community after a recently negotiated peace deal involving local residents and bandit groups.

Security officials said the area had already been on edge due to intelligence reports indicating that armed bandits were regrouping nearby. Joint security patrols were deployed to prevent possible attacks, but the operation resulted in Nagode’s death.

The Department of State Services has reportedly detained the Civilian Joint Task Force personnel involved in the incident. Authorities are closely observing the situation amid concerns that the killing could trigger vengeance attacks and threaten the delicate truce in the region.

Security sources emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue and respecting existing peace arrangements to avoid renewed violence. Residents have been urged to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
