French international Theo Hernández is nearing a permanent move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, with a €25 million agreement in place between the Riyadh-based club and Italian giants AC Milan.
According to trusted football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 26-year-old left-back is expected to complete the move in the coming days. A verbal agreement between all parties was reached two weeks ago, and contract formalities are now in their final stages.
Hernández, who played a key role in Milan’s 2021/22 Serie A title-winning campaign, will be the latest European star to join Al Hilal’s ranks. The club is currently managed by Italian coach Simone Inzaghi, who is preparing for a major squad rebuild ahead of the new season.
“Theo Hernández to Al Hilal, here we go! Agreement now being sealed after verbal pact made two weeks ago. AC Milan will receive €25m as Theo signs in the coming days. New left-back for Simone Inzaghi,” Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
Hernández joined Milan in 2019 from Real Madrid and quickly emerged as one of the team’s standout performers. Known for his pace, technical ability, and attacking contributions from defense, he has become one of the most sought-after full-backs in Europe.
His impending departure marks a significant change for AC Milan, who will now look to reinforce their defensive options before the start of the new Serie A season.
Al Hilal, one of the most successful clubs in Asia, has made headlines in recent seasons with a series of high-profile signings from European leagues, as the Saudi Pro League continues its ambitious push to attract global football talent.
