A tragic crash on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday left three people dead and several others injured, authorities confirmed.
The accident occurred near the Secretariat, on the inward lane toward the Otedola Bridge — a corridor known for heavy traffic and frequent crash incidents. Emergency officials said the collision involved three vehicles, though the cause of the incident is yet to be determined.
Personnel of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) were immediately deployed to the scene, where they administered first aid to the injured and moved critical cases to nearby hospitals for further treatment. Traffic officers were also on-site to manage the gridlock that quickly built up along the route.
Officials have not yet released the identities of the victims, but investigations are underway to establish what led to the fatal collision. Eyewitnesses reported significant damage to the vehicles involved and described the scene as chaotic before emergency crews arrived.
Authorities urged motorists to exercise caution when approaching the area, noting that traffic disruptions would continue until the road is fully cleared.
More updates are expected as the police and traffic management agencies conclude their assessment of the incident.
