Popular Nigerian actor Timini Egbuson has publicly addressed long-standing rumours about his romantic life, firmly stating that he is not a womaniser, contrary to popular belief.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Culture League podcast, which also featured Nigerian footballer Victor Boniface and comedian Bovi, the Nollywood star clarified that his lifestyle is far from the “playboy” image often attributed to him. The 38-year-old actor revealed that he has been single for the last two to three years, largely due to the intense demands of his acting career.

Egbuson explained that his tight filming schedule leaves him with very little time for dating, let alone juggling multiple relationships. “People assume I’m a womaniser, but that’s not true,” he said. “For the past two or three years, Nollywood has taken over my life. I leave set by 11 p.m. most days completely drained. How would I even have time or energy to be chatting with different women?”

He also questioned how some of his peers manage to maintain multiple relationships while actively working in the entertainment industry, describing the lifestyle as unsustainable. “Unless you’re completely unserious, I don’t see how it’s possible,” he added.

Despite the misconceptions, Egbuson admitted that he doesn’t take the stereotype personally. In fact, he embraces the “bad boy” persona that fans associate with him, even if it doesn’t reflect his real-life experiences.

As one of Nollywood’s most recognisable faces, Timini Egbuson’s statement offers a rare insight into how celebrity pressures and public perception often clash with personal reality — especially in an industry where image frequently overshadows truth.
