A student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has died following an electrocution incident that occurred while he was ironing his clothes in his off-campus lodge.
The deceased, widely known by his nickname Fedwin, was a 200-level student residing in a privately rented lodge near the university.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened over the weekend. A video circulating online shows the student lying unresponsive inside the room as his lodge mates make urgent calls in an attempt to get help.
Additional photos shared later show him being transported from the hostel to a nearby hospital.
Hours after the incident, fellow Unizik students took to social media to express their grief, confirming that he did not survive.
