Nigerian rapper Vector Tha Viper has explained why he does not attend church services, stating that he does not believe in church as a physical structure but as a personal spiritual experience.
The music star made the remarks during a recent episode of the BTC Podcast, where he shared his views on faith and organised religion.
According to Vector, his understanding of church goes beyond a building, emphasising that spirituality is centred on the individual rather than an edifice.
“I don’t believe in church as an edifice or a building. I believe in church as a human being,” he said, adding that the Bible teaches that God is more concerned with a person’s heart than physical structures.
The rapper also referenced a passage he attributed to the Gospel of Thomas, which speaks about the kingdom being within and around individuals rather than confined to a specific place.
He argued that faith is rooted in personal conviction and self-awareness, noting that salvation is an individual journey achieved through one’s connection with God.
Vector, however, clarified that his stance does not amount to criticism of those who attend church services or belong to Christian denominations. He maintained that his perspective reflects his personal beliefs about spirituality and religious practice.
