Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has reiterated its commitment to discipline and academic excellence, warning newly admitted students against any form of indecent dressing on campus.
The declaration came on Thursday during the institution’s matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session, where 6,076 students were formally welcomed into the college community.
Addressing the gathering, the Rector of YABATECH, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, emphasized the importance of students upholding values that reflect not only their personal character but also the image of the institution. He said discipline at YABATECH covers various aspects of student life — from academic engagement and entrepreneurial learning to technological advancement and appropriate appearance.
“Students are expected to dress decently and present themselves in a manner that mirrors their integrity,” the Rector stated, adding that the institution maintains a strict policy against inappropriate or suggestive attire.
He further noted that YABATECH remains focused on producing graduates who are not only academically proficient but also capable of thriving in real-world industries. According to him, the college’s legacy is built on a foundation of innovation, creativity, practical knowledge, and entrepreneurial excellence, which continues to set it apart as a leader in technical education in Nigeria.
Dr. Abdul encouraged students to make the most of the institution’s resources and opportunities, urging them to embrace responsibility, maintain discipline, and prepare to become globally competitive professionals.
YABATECH’s continued stance on student conduct and dress code underscores its broader commitment to molding individuals who embody professionalism, both within and beyond the academic environment.
