Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has criticised the Edo State Government over the conduct of some All Progressives Congress (APC) officials who visited the state for campaign activities ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke, while speaking amid heightened political activity ahead of the August 15 poll, reportedly mocked Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo over the visit, alleging that one of the APC governors entered Osun without the necessary clearance.
According to Adeleke, the development reflected what he described as a lack of civility among some political actors.
He further claimed that several APC governors who visited Osun for campaign activities had contacted him privately to apologise over their conduct.
“Most of the APC governors who came for campaign called to apologise behind the scene,” Adeleke said, according to the remarks circulating from his engagement.
The governor’s comments come as political parties intensify their campaigns and mobilisation efforts ahead of the election.
The Osun governorship contest has become increasingly competitive, with Adeleke of the Accord Party facing APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam among the major contenders.
The election is scheduled for August 15, 2026, with security, political conduct and the credibility of the electoral process remaining major issues in the final days of the campaign. Recent reports have shown growing exchanges between the major political camps.
