Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has fired back at critics who have repeatedly questioned his penchant for dancing at political and public events.
Adeleke dismissed the criticism as jealousy, insisting that his love for dancing does not interfere with his responsibilities as governor.
The governor said dancing is part of his personality and family culture, arguing that he can combine his public performances with the responsibilities of governing Osun State.
“They are jealous of me because they cannot dance,” Adeleke said.
He added that his family members are “jolly good fellows” and that music is deeply rooted in their family.
“Nobody will stop me from dancing. As I am dancing, I am working,” he said.
Adeleke’s comments come amid an increasingly heated Osun governorship campaign, with opponents repeatedly using his dancing as a talking point during the election season.
The governor, however, has continued to embrace the image, maintaining that his public displays do not determine his effectiveness in office.
The issue has featured prominently in the political contest, with the governor’s opponents questioning whether his public dancing is appropriate for the office, while his supporters have defended it as part of his personality.
Recent reports confirm Adeleke’s remarks as the August 15 election approaches.
