Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, has arrived in Nigeria ahead of an international conference focused on security and national unity.
Al-Issa’s arrival in Abuja comes as Nigeria continues to confront terrorism, banditry and other forms of insecurity across different parts of the country.
The conference is being convened by the Muslim World League in collaboration with Jama’atu Izalatil Bidiah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS).
The gathering is expected to focus on national security and sustainable peace, with discussions expected to address the broader challenges confronting Nigeria.
The initiative comes amid continued efforts by Nigerian authorities and community organisations to develop stronger approaches to tackling insecurity, particularly terrorism and banditry.
The conference is also expected to bring together religious leaders and other stakeholders to discuss national unity, security and peaceful coexistence.
Al-Issa’s arrival was confirmed ahead of the conference scheduled to take place in Abuja. Reports say the summit will focus on Nigeria’s national security challenges and possible measures to strengthen the country’s response.
