A lawyer and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kalu Kalu, has submitted a petition to the European Commission in Brussels over allegations involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic credentials.
Reports said the petition raises allegations of certificate forgery as well as what Kalu described as threats to Nigeria’s constitutional order.
Kalu reportedly presented the petition to the European Commission in Brussels, escalating a controversy that has followed questions surrounding President Tinubu’s academic credentials.
The petition is part of renewed political criticism against the President as opposition figures intensify scrutiny of the administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to reports, Kalu has also raised other allegations relating to Tinubu, including issues surrounding a reported $460,000 forfeiture in the United States.
The allegations contained in the petition remain claims by Kalu and have not been established as facts by a court in relation to the latest submission.
The development comes amid a broader political battle between the Tinubu administration and opposition forces preparing for the 2027 presidential contest.
Tinubu is seeking re-election in 2027, while the ADC is positioning itself as one of the opposition platforms seeking to challenge the ruling APC.
