The former lawmaker said he appreciates good things and prays to God for the ability to acquire them, describing his public display of wealth as an expression of gratitude.
Melaye has previously attracted public attention for his flamboyant lifestyle and social-media posts featuring luxury items, vehicles and other displays of affluence.
Responding to criticism, he maintained that public opinion would not determine how he expresses his gratitude or views his personal achievements.
The former senator has also spoken about his journey to financial success, including how he began investing from a young age.
His comments have generated renewed discussion online, with Nigerians divided over whether public figures should openly display wealth at a time when many citizens are facing economic difficulties.
Melaye, however, insists that his focus remains on his relationship with God rather than the opinions of critics.
