The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, and former governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola, have cast their votes in the ongoing governorship election.
Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, voted in his hometown of Ikire in Irewole Local Government Area.
Reports from the area indicated a significant turnout of voters at his polling location as residents participated in the election.
Oyebamiji had earlier expressed confidence in his chances of defeating incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, saying he believed the APC’s grassroots structure would deliver victory for the party.
Meanwhile, Oyetola cast his ballot at Ward 1, Unit 10, in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area.
The former governor, who is currently the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, also urged voters and political actors to maintain peace during the election.
The APC has mounted a strong campaign for Oyebamiji, with several senior party leaders travelling to Osun in the final days of the election campaign.
The election is being closely watched as a major test of the APC’s political strength in the state and a referendum on Adeleke’s administration.
Both the APC and Accord camps have expressed confidence in victory as voters determine who will govern Osun for the next four years.
