Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has questioned the delay in uploading results from the ongoing Osun State governorship election to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
Davido raised concerns about the transparency of the electoral process as voting progressed across the state on Saturday.
The singer has been an outspoken supporter of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party.
His latest intervention focused on the electronic transmission and public availability of polling-unit results following the conclusion of voting at various locations.
The IReV platform is designed to allow members of the public and stakeholders to view scanned copies of polling-unit result forms uploaded by INEC.
Davido’s comments come amid heightened scrutiny of the election process, with political parties and supporters closely monitoring developments across the state’s polling units.
Earlier in the day, INEC reported that 3,556 of the state’s 3,763 polling units had opened by 8:30 a.m., indicating that voting had commenced across the majority of locations.
As counting begins at polling units, attention will increasingly focus on the availability and uploading of results, as well as the subsequent collation process.
Davido’s call adds to growing public interest in the transparency of the results-management process during the closely watched Osun election.
