Governor Ademola Adeleke has taken an early lead in the ongoing Osun State governorship election as counting and collation of results begin across the state.
Early results released from polling units show Adeleke of the Accord Party winning in two of the three results officially available at the time of reporting, while his closest challenger, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, won the remaining result.
The development comes as INEC begins uploading polling-unit results to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV). As of 4:03 p.m., 402 of the 3,763 expected polling-unit results had reportedly been uploaded.
Vote sorting and counting had already commenced at several polling units across Osun, with the process continuing into the afternoon.
However, the emerging figures remain preliminary and do not represent the final result of the election. The outcome will depend on the completion of voting, counting and the official collation process by INEC.
The Osun governorship election is being closely watched as a major political contest ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
