President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly ordered the withdrawal and review of the initial composition of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections.
The development follows concerns within the ruling party over the list unveiled by the Presidency, with some senior APC figures reportedly questioning the exclusion of influential party leaders and the structure of the proposed council.
Reports published on Monday said Tinubu directed the Presidency, National Assembly leadership and the APC National Working Committee to review the list and address concerns relating to party hierarchy, geographical representation and the interests of key stakeholders before a revised composition is released.
Among those reportedly absent from the initial list were Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, former Minister of Labour Chris Ngige, former Minister of Works Babatunde Fashola, former Minister of Information Lai Mohammed and former Minister of Labour Simon Lalong.
The reported review comes shortly after the APC unveiled its initial 2027 campaign structure as the ruling party begins preparations for the presidential contest.
The development could lead to changes in the distribution of positions within the campaign council as the party seeks to accommodate more of its influential figures.
The APC has not, in the reports reviewed, publicly released a revised council list following the reported directive.
