Authorities at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) have issued a formal statement clarifying their position regarding the identity of a man reportedly murdered in Ogbomoso, who is widely believed to be a student of the institution.
The victim, identified by some reports as Ridwan Oladipupo, was said to be a 300-level student in the Department of Agricultural Engineering. He allegedly left his off-campus residence on Lawyer Ahmed Street on June 24, 2025, reportedly heading to study, but was later found dead in front of Nurudeen Grammar School along Under-G Road.
In a statement signed by LAUTECH Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka Balogun, the university said it had not received any official communication confirming Oladipupo’s status as an enrolled student.
“The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso has unofficially learnt about the death of one Mr. Ridwan Oladipupo, said to be a 300-level student of Agricultural Engineering,” the statement read.
According to university officials, the Divisional Police Officer of Owode Division contacted the Acting Dean of Student Affairs on June 25 following the discovery of a body near the school premises. Efforts to identify the deceased by police and student representatives proved inconclusive at the time, prompting law enforcement to move the body to the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital mortuary.
Subsequently, on June 29, the deceased’s father visited the hostel accompanied by police, questioning residents in an effort to establish his son’s movements before the incident.
Despite growing speculation, the university emphasized that it has not received any formal documentation or identification confirming that the deceased was indeed one of its students.
The case is currently under investigation by the Nigeria Police Force at the Owode Division. LAUTECH has stated it will refrain from any further comment to avoid interfering with the ongoing police inquiry.
