Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to voters in the South-East to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
The First Lady made the appeal during an empowerment programme in Owerri, Imo State, where she spoke about her desire to see Nigeria become a better country.
She said she wanted to enjoy the benefits of a better Nigeria in her old age and called on Nigerians to support her husband’s administration.
“Make una vote for Mr President, we go work for una and Nigeria go better,” she said during the programme, according to reports of the event.
Mrs Tinubu said both she and the President remained committed to improving the country and urged Nigerians to give the administration continued support.
Her appeal came during a visit to the South-East, where she also participated in women-focused empowerment activities.
The First Lady said the empowerment initiative was being implemented through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals.
The programme is expected to benefit thousands of women across the country as part of efforts to support household incomes and economic empowerment.
Her comments also come as political parties and presidential contenders intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The South-East remains an important political battleground, with opposition parties and the governing All Progressives Congress seeking to strengthen their support across the region.
