President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to give him another term in office, expressing confidence that his administration’s policies will deliver greater prosperity, economic growth and opportunities for citizens.

Tinubu made the appeal on Saturday, October 24, 2026, during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign in Kaduna State, where he formally sought public support for his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general election.

Addressing party leaders, supporters and political stakeholders, the President argued that his administration had embarked on reforms intended to address longstanding economic challenges and establish a foundation for national development.

He urged Nigerians to give the government more time to consolidate its policies, insisting that the country could achieve greater progress if the reforms were sustained.

Tinubu described his administration’s agenda as one focused on prosperity, growth, recovery and opportunity, while calling on voters to support APC candidates at all levels of government.

The President also commended APC governors for their development initiatives and ability to meet salary obligations, presenting these as evidence of progress under the ruling party.

He maintained that the government was working to improve economic conditions despite the difficulties associated with its reform programme.

The appeal comes as Nigeria prepares for another presidential election amid continuing debates over the cost of living, employment, insecurity and the effectiveness of government policies.

Since taking office in May 2023, Tinubu has implemented major economic measures, including the removal of petrol subsidies and changes to the foreign exchange regime. His administration has defended the decisions as necessary to improve public finances and correct structural weaknesses in the economy.

However, the measures have also attracted criticism over their immediate effects on household budgets, transportation costs and the affordability of essential goods.

Opposition parties have questioned whether the government’s policies have delivered sufficient relief, while supporters argue that the reforms require time to produce more widespread benefits.

Tinubu’s request for another term places the performance of his administration at the centre of the emerging 2027 campaign.

The President is expected to face questions from voters about the results of his economic policies, his response to insecurity and the extent to which government programmes have improved living standards.

His appeal for a renewed mandate will therefore be tested against both his administration’s stated achievements and the experiences of Nigerians as the election approaches.
