The campaign structure brings together zonal, state and directorate coordinators as the NDC presidential ticket steps up preparations for the 2027 election.
The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has announced a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as part of preparations to mobilise support for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council, announced on Thursday, comprises zonal and state coordinators alongside directors assigned to different areas of the campaign structure.
The development marks another stage in efforts to establish a nationwide political organisation around the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket.
The announcement follows weeks of consultations involving Obi, Kwankwaso, NDC leaders and allied support groups.
In August, the party’s leadership was reported to have held a series of meetings involving Obi, Kwankwaso and former Bayelsa State governor Seriake Dickson as preparations for the campaign council continued.
The consultations followed earlier reports of disagreement over the composition of the proposed campaign structure. Representatives of both Obi and Kwankwaso, however, rejected claims of an internal power struggle and said consultations were ongoing.
The newly announced structure is expected to coordinate campaign activities across different parts of the country and organise mobilisation around the NDC’s presidential ticket.
Campaign councils typically serve as the operational machinery through which political parties coordinate messaging, field activities, mobilisation, communications and engagement with voters during an election cycle.
The unveiling also comes as Nigeria’s political parties move deeper into preparations for the 2027 general elections, with presidential and National Assembly campaigns already forming a central part of party activity.
