Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has denied being a member of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council after her name appeared on a list released by the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abraham’s name was included among personalities listed under the campaign council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
However, the actress subsequently rejected the reported appointment, saying she had not joined any campaign council and asking the public to disregard the claim.
Abraham distances herself from campaign role
The controversy followed the publication of the Lagos APC campaign council list, which included a number of prominent figures from Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
The list named actors, musicians and other creative-industry personalities as members of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate. Among those listed were veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Bimbo? and several Fuji musicians.
Abraham, however, said she was not part of the council.
In a response shared on social media, she stated that she was “not a member of any campaign council” and indicated that she had previously made her position clear.
Her statement effectively separates her from the campaign structure announced by the Lagos APC.
Party list and actress’ denial
The development highlights the distinction between a person being named on a political organisation’s published list and that person publicly accepting the role.
The Lagos APC campaign council was constituted ahead of the 2027 elections and includes several directorates tasked with different aspects of the party’s campaign activities.
Abraham’s denial means that her inclusion on the published list should not be treated as evidence that she has accepted a political campaign role.
The actress has previously attracted public attention over her political associations, making the latest clarification significant in the context of the 2027 campaign season.
For now, her stated position is that she is staying out of politics and is not a member of the Lagos APC campaign council.
