The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a five-day ultimatum to the Benue State Government, demanding the resolution of its dispute with staff unions and the reopening of five state-owned tertiary institutions.
The students’ body said the institutions had remained closed for more than two months, creating disruption for students and academic activities.
Institutions Affected
The institutions identified by NANS are:
- Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo.
- Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev, Gboko.
- Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, Makurdi.
- Benue State College of Education, Oju.
- College of Education, Katsina-Ala.
The association called on the state government to resolve the dispute with staff unions and restore academic activities.
Proposed Student Mobilisation
NANS warned that failure to address the situation within five days would lead to a mass mobilisation of students to Makurdi.
