President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending about four weeks in Europe, declaring himself healthy and ready to resume his official responsibilities.
Tinubu made the remarks on Tuesday evening after arriving in Lagos from Paris, France, where he spent the latter part of what the Presidency described as a working vacation.
His aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at approximately 6:22 p.m. on September 29, 2026.
President Responds to Health Questions
Speaking to journalists after his arrival, Tinubu said he had enjoyed his stay abroad and dismissed concerns raised about his health during his absence.
“I enjoyed myself. Fantastic,” the President said when asked about his trip.
Responding to questions about his health, he said he was “healthy, sound, and ready to go,” adding that political rumours would continue to circulate.
The comments followed public discussion about the length of his stay outside Nigeria and his absence from the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Four-Week European Stay
Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 30 for what the Presidency initially described as a three-week annual vacation, travelling first to London before proceeding to Paris.
During the trip, he participated in engagements with business figures and other official contacts, according to reports on his activities abroad.
The Presidency maintained that the President continued to direct government affairs during his stay, while opposition figures questioned the duration of his absence.
Independence Anniversary Engagements
Tinubu’s return comes ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1.
He was also expected to attend a film premiere celebrating the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Lagos.
The President’s return concludes his extended European stay as the administration prepares for the next phase of its domestic engagements.
