The Minority Leader of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, arguing that it has not delivered the level of development Nigerians expected during its time in office.
Magaji, who represents Bodinga North Constituency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the remarks on Tuesday in Sokoto while speaking with journalists about the Federal Government’s performance, particularly in northern Nigeria.
The lawmaker said he had yet to see sufficient progress to justify celebrating the administration’s record, despite the resources available to the Federal Government.
Concerns Over Development and Public Expectations
Magaji’s comments add to the debate over the Federal Government’s economic and development policies, including the effects of its reforms on households, businesses and communities.
Assessments of the administration’s performance involve several areas, including inflation, employment, infrastructure, public services, security and economic growth. Establishing the extent of progress requires examining relevant indicators over a defined period rather than relying solely on political statements.
The ADC lawmaker’s remarks represent his assessment of the government’s performance. A comprehensive evaluation would also consider the administration’s documented policy outcomes, the economic conditions it inherited and the experiences of different regions and population groups.
The comments come as political parties and public officials continue to debate governance and development priorities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
