Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has declared his continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging Nigerians to give the administration more time to address the country’s longstanding challenges.

Anuku made the remarks during an appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he argued that Nigeria’s difficulties predated the Tinubu administration and should not be attributed solely to the current government.

The actor said he remained supportive of the president and believed Nigerians should exercise patience as the administration implements its policies.

“I will stick with President Tinubu,” Anuku said, according to reports from the interview. He also described the president as “doing great” and urged Nigerians to be patient with him.

Anuku says Tinubu inherited existing challenges

The actor argued that the country’s problems did not begin when Tinubu assumed office in May 2023.

His comments reflect a political assessment rather than an independent evaluation of the administration’s performance.

Tinubu’s government has introduced significant economic reforms since taking office, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to the foreign-exchange regime. The measures have been defended by the administration as necessary structural reforms, while critics have pointed to their impact on household costs and living standards.

Actor joins public debate

Anuku’s intervention adds a prominent entertainment-industry voice to the continuing public debate over the government’s economic and political record.

His call for patience comes as the administration prepares to enter the final phase of its first term and political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
