The Nigerian naira weakened slightly against the United States dollar on Monday, October 5, 2026, closing at N1,332.90 per dollar at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM).
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed that the currency traded at an official rate of N1,331.6875/$ before closing at N1,332.90/$.
The movement represents a modest weakening from the previous trading session, when the naira closed at N1,332 per dollar.
In the parallel market, buying and selling rates were reported at approximately N1,355 and N1,365 per dollar, respectively.
The latest movement comes as the naira continues to trade within a relatively narrow range after experiencing periods of significant volatility in the foreign exchange market.
The gap between the official and parallel-market rates remains an important indicator watched by businesses, investors and consumers because of its implications for import costs, inflation and foreign-exchange access.
