Yoruba Nation activist and founder of Iru Ekun Security Network, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has commended KSI Construction Company Limited for donating a plot of land valued at ₦50 million to the security organisation for the construction of its Federal Capital Territory office.
The donation, announced on Thursday, is expected to provide Iru Ekun with a formal base in Abuja and strengthen the organisation’s engagements with government institutions and conventional security agencies.
Igboho’s media office said the proposed FCT office would support the organisation’s administrative and official activities in the nation’s capital.
The Yoruba Nation activist also reaffirmed Iru Ekun’s intention to work with the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant security stakeholders in efforts to improve safety across communities in the South-West.
He said collaboration with conventional security institutions remained essential to tackling kidnapping, banditry and other forms of criminality.
Igboho further thanked KSI Construction for what he described as meaningful support for community security initiatives.
According to reports, the construction company also plans to donate 10 motorcycles to Iru Ekun to support its field operations when the organisation’s Abuja office is unveiled.
The Group Managing Director of KSI Construction Company, Dr Koleola Emmanuel Oladeni, said the company’s decision was influenced by what it described as the security network’s activities in the South-West.
Oladeni claimed that collaboration involving Iru Ekun personnel and conventional security agencies had contributed to a reduction in kidnapping, banditry and other crimes in parts of Yorubaland. Such claims remain assertions by the company and have not been independently quantified in the reports reviewed.
The development highlights the increasingly prominent role of community-based security initiatives in Nigeria’s response to insecurity, particularly in areas where residents have demanded faster local intelligence and intervention.
For Iru Ekun, the establishment of an FCT office could also broaden its engagement with federal institutions and security authorities beyond its activities in the South-West.
Igboho said the organisation remained committed to supporting efforts aimed at ensuring peace and tranquillity in the region, while stressing that cooperation with statutory security agencies would remain central to its operations.
