The Osun governor, who belongs to the Accord Party, has been named the state’s coordinator for Tinubu’s presidential campaign, highlighting the cross-party alliances emerging ahead of the election.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, expressing confidence that the President will secure another term in office in the 2027 general election.

Adeleke made the declaration on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Speaking before political leaders and campaign officials, the governor called on Nigerians to support Tinubu’s bid for a second term, arguing that the administration needed more time to implement its reform agenda.

“We must give our father, the President of this nation, time for his reform to work. It’s not easy. Four years is not enough,” Adeleke said.

He also expressed confidence in the President’s electoral prospects, declaring, “Nobody can stop this movement.”

The governor’s remarks represented an explicit endorsement of Tinubu’s re-election campaign, with Adeleke pledging to contribute to efforts aimed at securing victory in 2027.

Cross-party alliance ahead of 2027

Adeleke’s position has attracted attention because he governs Osun State under the Accord Party, which is separate from the ruling APC.

Despite the difference in party affiliation, he has been named the Osun State coordinator for Tinubu’s presidential campaign, placing him within a campaign structure seeking support beyond the APC’s traditional membership.

The arrangement reflects a broader effort by the President’s supporters to build alliances with political figures from different parties ahead of the next general election.

Other prominent politicians outside the APC have also expressed support for Tinubu’s second-term bid, contributing to the emergence of a cross-party political arrangement described by its supporters as a “Rainbow Coalition.”

Such alliances could influence campaign organisation, voter mobilisation and negotiations among political stakeholders. However, their ultimate electoral impact will depend on how effectively they translate endorsements into votes.

Electoral support remains to be tested

Although Adeleke expressed confidence that Tinubu would win in 2027, his declaration represents his own political position and does not establish the preferences of all voters in Osun State or elsewhere in Nigeria.

The election will ultimately be determined by voters, with economic conditions, security, candidate appeal, party organisation and public assessment of the administration likely to shape the contest.

With campaign structures now being activated, political parties and their allies are expected to intensify efforts to mobilise supporters across the country.
